The kids spent last week with Mark at the church Spring Break Musical camp. Last year they did a modified version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat - this year it was The Drum - an Indian folktale about sharing and generosity. The kids learned the whole thing in a week, and built the set, as well!
Now Mr. Ben has always been a bit of a ham, and one of the cool things about living with Asperger's Syndrome is that he has an amazing memory, and perfect pitch. These three things really came together and he did a fabulous job performing - singing solos and duets and generally lighting up the stage with his enthusiasm! ( I am NOT biased - this is ALL true !!!)
Hannah did the sound for the musical, and found that running a sound board was "sorta cool" - for an almost 14 year old, I think that means it was fun! She did a great job.
Emily has a lovely voice and loves to sing but she is much more reserved - she prefers to be in the chorus and I was proud that she agreed to be a drummer where she might actually be seen!
Josh likes the idea of participating and he likes to sing, too. It is that darn taking direction thing that is the problem!! But he can always be counted on to smile for the camera!
I was so proud of them all - they worked hard and it was a great production - can't wait to scrap all the photos from this - and yes there are WAY too many - aaah the life of a stage mom!!!!
Happy Day everyone!
Way to go, kids. Fabulous way to spend your time in Spring Break........now the question will be....do you give autographs??
